i'm reading a book on language titled exophony, reading the word plosive, thinking explosive, i know that word though i never think of it, plosive, and how disturbingly often i think of explosive. 

Of, relating to, or being a speech sound produced by complete closure of the oral passage and subsequent release accompanied by a burst of air, as in the sound (p) in pit or (d) in dog.
