“The [AI] image captures a post-present reality,” says Palestinian Amman-based photographer Ali Asfour,  adding that generative AI produces images based on aggregates of existing images. “It imagines our current moment as an inevitable tragic past, absolving us from engaging with the present and seeking change.”
