we live life severed from nature with the illusion of progress that is war and gentrification and hate and prejudice and control. 
we need animals for our spiritual survival, but we will not physically survive this onslaught of gentrification, the rampant police state, corporate thugs in the highest seats of power, endless war on the environment and people for profit: death. it is a culture of death and money. the wages of death.
