magic wheel. sentience and anxiety. you want to be a sentient being, but the world is scary. you want protection, but not with a short tense leash, let's say. i read more in the ad about anxiety,
but the most common trigger is the stress that comes from our own thinking. when we focus on what we do not want to have happen, we trigger the stress response, and from there, we have a cascade of hormones that send us into fight or flight. anxiety ranges along a spectrum from minor worry to full panic attacks. we can even have generalized anxiety, where we are in constant worry or a stressed state, and we do not know what is causing it. with these different kinds of anxiety, the cure is the same. we turn off the brain's stress response, get the brain to tell the body we are safe, then the body stops the cascade of stress hormones and reactions, and we come out of fight-or-flight mode. the next step is learning how to rewire your brain so that your thoughts stop triggering your stress response. (ashley james)
we don't want the illusion of safety, we do want sentience, we want to be free, and the system works against freedom and the feeling of safety. i recall alan watt's book the wisdom of insecurity. we live in impermanence first, then this grid, the human construct, which is increasingly alien and destructive to nature and the spirit. we also have the energy of life within and all around us which is impermanence and also can't be erased. sorry, if i could edit this now i'd prefer it simpler, but it's just for now this.
