i'm having an exchange with a fellow who does native plantings. he writes about the hominid war on nature with insecticides but says herbicides like roundup are ok, they break down in hours. i write back wondering what happens in those hours, and what happens to the organisms in the soil, and add that anything ending with -cide means it kills. when they spray roundup in the nature sanctuary i've only seen a warning sign once—it said dangerous to dogs.
