he came not to save but to take the trees and the ground beneath. he came to repurpose the community. he came for the indigenous and indigent alike, to take the park. he didn't come to energize, he came to cut the trees down to their roots. he came to gentrify. he came to repurpose community: to monetize. he came to repurpose our means to his ends. he came with a tree hugger of death and the spectre of the unhinged. he came as the settler colonials came to colonize his name, with golf carts and fun time trolleys and tourists, to take the park, to valorize the waste in his name, for the empire of the haves—obamaland.
