the opacity of representation, the fatigue of democracy.

the populace can govern, because it is capable of truth. the people know what they want, or, more accurately, they know what they don’t want: to be dominated. through this knowledge, the people arrive at the truth, which is the truth of domination.

patrick boucheron                                                                                                                  machiavelli: the art of teaching people what to fear

i got a book on machiavelli by lulu's papa but it was a bit over my noggin. i ordered the more popular and brief book by boucheron. 159pps. it's a machiavellian moment they say. it's always a machiavellian moment they say. and i think mister reiner gave my sophomore history class a teutonic and comically histrionic midwestern suburban flatlander performance of the prince. we shall see—i'm in a fog, and flattened by the farce of rampant power plaguing the planet.
