Post-truth is pre-fascism, and Trump has been our post-truth president. When we give up on truth, we concede power to those with the wealth and charisma to create spectacle in its place...post-truth wears away the rule of law and invites a regime of myth.                 Timothy Snyder, The American Abyss

the article refers to the gamers and breakers of the system in terms of the republican party, but both parties are gaming and breaking the system, the two parties are in essence one, continually gaming and breaking an inherently rigged system—gaming the people and breaking democracy. the donald seemed adept at breaking democracy and serving the gamers—but he only served himself and the power elite. and the disenfranchised mob, broken and gamed, incredibly, still believe he's making them great.

In the four decades since the election of Ronald Reagan, Republicans have overcome the tension between the gamers and the breakers by governing in opposition to government, or by calling elections a revolution (the Tea Party), or by claiming to oppose elites. The breakers, in this arrangement, provide cover for the gamers, putting forth an ideology that distracts from the basic reality that government under Republicans is not made smaller but simply diverted to serve a handful of interests.        Timothy Snyder, The American Abyss

i'm not of sound mind and i'm not a political thinker. i wish i could parse it all better. i wish i could be free of the entire thing, one can't be independent and separate, and post-truth is a lie that cannot be made true, post truth is the abyss.

i'll stop, i know this is boring. sorey. my gourd i'm tired.
