i'm reading about equanimity. it means not reacting to things, creating a buffer around your feelings, observing neutrally. i've felt equanimity, but i have to work to make it my daily mental experience. to cultivate in the brain a great spaciousness, by touch, by slow seeing, by not looking at things sweepingly, by looking at things in their environment, by seeing patterns in nature, how nature holds and reflects and responds to feelings without reacting, with being, as a tree responds yet is the same before and after you pass by, itself and calm, neutral and nurturing, simply being, simply seen.
