today i'll celebrate if i can make my walks today. when you're ok you're ok, if no one is shooting at you or bombing your neighborhood, you can think about celebrating life. today i'm just hoping to keep moving. and i have an extra walk. indigenous people are threatened every day. they've survived hundreds of years of empire and genocide. a sore back is nothing. still, it's everything if i can't walk. i have no medical, and no surrogate. i forget how fragile my body is, how easily i can be stopped. my body. the life i have to celebrate today, this body that has carried this weight for six decades.
