For all the talk of transparency, the OPC/Obama Foundation representatives have consistently dodged the essential question of why parkland must be confiscated with an all-too-familiar combination of glad-handing and gas-lighting. The South Side can be the location for the OPC, and public parkland doesn’t have to be confiscated in the process.

i'm glad there are clear voices advocating for open space. i wish there were more. so much is already happening in advance of obombaland it seems unlikely the park can be saved. unlikely things might yet be possible, though. i wish all the people who will be moved or adversely affected by this corporate land grab would come together and fight to save not just jackson park, but all the existing neighborhoods under threat.
