we were watching terra last night and i was so bone tired i fell asleep when it reached the point where humans appeared in this present form, physically, i mean, of course. there's an aquatic lizard i think surviving in the galapagos that i think the narrator said was an early human ancestor, and it looks just like a human diver. so we have to watch the rest tonight. i was thinking in the elevator coming up, i wonder if we are part of nature anymore, or have we evolved, or devolved, separately, on some tangent of hubris along with our technology. are we some kind of alternate reality to nature? or are we the just full of nonsense. are we just one of the ones we've consigned to oblivion?
i'm sure nature will last us out in some form, maybe lichen and fungus, or the microbes we can't manage to kill. i'll let you know how terra turns out, if i stay awake. that narrator, vanessa paradis, has such a soft and lulling voice. she could sing me into oblivion, any time.
