i love to observe this girl learning to play with hilde. i asked her name and heard it and didn't get it and felt dumb or deaf or american, so she will be the girl who loved dogs. there have been many, and just at this age, learning language, usually two at once, and exploring and extending their little selves into the world, with dogs as companion. little girls between cultures and languages learning, and it's fascinating to see. her mom said, she was barking, before i even saw you. this will be her 3rd language, inter-species communication with dogs, along with turkish and english.
but i haven't quite gotten to what i feel about this interplay. i feel like i go into a kind of alice trance and i just want to picture it unfolding. maybe in a way i want to be that little girl. usually they move on, their parents migrating academically, or back to their other country, and even if they stay they don't stay this way. this way is so ephemeral, yet so earthy, so tangible, yet fleeting, it's an angle of chance, the motion of the hand and the ball, the multiply fresh repetitions and permutations of joy connecting us.
well, i still didn't quite get it. it's searching but unfound, i may get it right given enough time.
